German Photo Book Award 2024

We are delighted that our book Alpine Passes of Switzerland. Journey to Modernity was honoured with a gold medal at the German Photo Book Award 24|25. We congratulate all those involved and are very happy!

Through some 80 large-format color and black-and-white images, Alpine Passes of Switzerland demonstrates the boldness of the country’s modern Alpine crossings, their infrastructure and beautiful landscapes. Additional historic photographs convey earlier generations’ courage and pioneering efforts to build the roads and railtracks that connect Europe’s nations.

The jury praised in its statement: "Richard von Tscharner succeeds in combining fascinating motifs with historical knowledge. His book is not only a delight in terms of feel, design and photographic quality, but also an illustrated book that documents historical details, maps and the transformation of mountain passes over the centuries. Alpine Passes of Switzerland is therefore not a one-hit wonder, but a historically valuable work that honours the history of the Swiss mountains and their world-famous passes in excellent form."
