For more than two decades, Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist (*1962) has been acclaimed for her works in a variety of media, including film and audio-video installations. Her work has been shown in museums worldwide, including the Paço das Artes in São Paolo, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology in Liverpool, MoMA in New York, the Hara Museum in Tokyo, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Her first venture into full-length motion pictures, Pepperminta, premiered at the 2009 Venice International Film Festival and then appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010. The film tells the charming, whimsical story of Pepperminta, a young lady who has set out on a quixotic quest to rid humanity of bad moods and dull routine.

The Music of Pipilotti Rist’s Pepperminta is a brief illustrated volume designed to accompany the film and its memorable soundtrack, which was created by Rist with musician Anders Guggisberg and DJ Roland Widmer. The soundtrack—a combination of soft sounds and spurring rhythms—is included here in its entirety on a compact disc. Also featured are twenty-five full-color reproductions of film stills alongside an interview with Rist and brief texts that set the images and music in context.
