From the Room to the City

From the Room to the City

“We share a belief that the European city’s character has been shaped by the accumulation of personal experiences and collective cultural memories, forming a rich and complex tapestry where the planned and the unplanned combine to offer a resilient future.”

British architec t Stephen Bates and Zurich-based Bruno Krucker have explored, investigated and analysed the Bavarian capital. This book presents the result of this in-depth study, portraying the city’s constant adjustments and partially fulfilled plans, its moments of generosity and chance, destruction and repair – a compendium of the European city illustrated by the example of Munich!
